Good to know

Your beautiful living space is on the 2nd floor of a historic Birmingham building built in 1891, that used to be a general store, community telephone building, and masonic lodge. Today, directly below your airbnb is a wonderful antique store (open Wed, Thur, Sat). You are in the heart of Birmingham, but also the heart of Northern Ohio's, Lake Erie Vacationland. WHERE YOU'LL BE: Walk downstairs to the antique store and find that prized gem with your name on it. Walk out your door and into the Birmingham Metro Park, the former site of a school, where you can enjoy a cookout, or the family can enjoy the swings, basketball court, or baseball field. Walk just a few minutes to Schoepfle Gardens where you can enjoy a picturesque scroll through the beautiful gardens and then dip your toes into the peaceful and meandering Vermilion river. Wind down the day and enjoy some delicious food and wine in Northern Ohio wine country with 2 wineries within a 3 minute drive and 4 wineries within a 10 minute drive! We are perfect for a romantic getaway to enjoy 4 local wineries or to dine at the nearby, world famous Chez Francois restaurant on the Vermilion River! Drive 10 minutes to downtown Vermilion and Main Street beach to enjoy a wonderful downtown and beach. Take in the shops, amazing lake views, picturesque Vermilion lighthouse, and stone boardwalk down the river. Drive 15 minutes and you're in historic downtown Oberlin and Oberlin College where you can enjoy shops, coffee, and see your loved one at college. Drive 17 minutes and you're in quaint, All-American, downtown Milan where you can see the birthplace home and museum of Thomas Edison. Drive 30 minutes and find all the amusement and thrill you can experience in a day at Cedar Point Amusement Park or Kalahari Water Park. Hop on a ferry while you're out there to the Lake Erie islands! See the great city of Cleveland with downtown being only 40 minutes away! The possibilities are endless and we’re at the heart of it all and here to host your Northern Ohio vacation! YOUR SPACE: As you go on your adventures, your wonderful home base includes all of the following: - Fully stocked kitchen so you have the option to stop at the local grocery store and fix a home-cooked meal for the family - Free coffee (including decaf and tea) and snacks to get you going on your mornings - Stylish living room featuring a 55-inch flat screen, Smart TV to binge your favorite shows -Large and inviting dining space to gather and eat as a family or group - A dedicated workspace with fast internet for your business and work needs. - Beautiful master bedroom with closet space and it's own flat screen, smart TV - Second bedroom (queen bed) and third bedroom (two twins) - 1 full bathroom stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soap, and all necessary linens - A massive metro park next door to enjoy the outdoors including a gazebo, grill, swings, basketball court, and baseball field for the whole family to enjoy the evening outside.

This is a historical site—100 years ago+, the ground floor was a general store and barber shop and the apartment was the Masonic meeting space (2nd floor). The area is quiet and off the beaten path. Many old photos are shared throughout the apartment. The building has settled and you will notice a slope to the floors and stairs that adds to the charm. The apartment has plenty of tissues, toilet paper, paper towel roll and towels. Very nice coffee station with plenty of coffee. The air conditioning was supplemented with fans to move the air. Plenty of hot water. There is a nice size table for dining (some of the chairs were not quite steady, so we took a couple steady chairs from the kitchen—worked fine). Basic flatware and dishes with some basic cooking pans. Small frig can fit basics. Grocery store is about a 15-minute drive. Plenty of off-street parking with a park next door. Property management was highly responsive (according to booking there was supposed to be another twin bed in bedroom 1–proprietor said booking got that wrong, so make sure that has been corrected when you book). There is a very kind person—David—who owns/runs the very clean antique store on the first floor as well (very sweet to gift us muffins our first morning). No windows in 2 bedrooms. Creativity required to hang toiletry bags and wet towels. Could use a floor mat for wet feet coming out of shower.
